Thoughts So Far Of My First Summer Season
Oh hi! It's me Jess. You're here and you're reading this, you're awesome!
Words can't express how darn happy I've been on the inaugural season Farm to Glass Wine Tours has been having this season, and I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to all of you. To all my friends, family, wine family, sommeliers, farmers who have supported my dream from the beginning... to the people that have chosen to do wine touring "a bit different", words can't express how much y'all mean to me.
Every tour so far have been so memorable, silly, educational and fun that it seriously doesn't feel like I'm even working... I'm just hanging with friends, chatting wine and having the time of my life.
I remember how nervous I was back in June, running my first tours, studying my little heart out on BC Wine history to make sure I could paint a beautiful picture of where our wines started to what they have become today.
I also remember having a proper cry, embarrassingly in front of Gene Covert at Covert Farms Family Estate on my first "real tour" of the season. A combination of tears of joy and terrible tears of sadness because I couldn't share the success with my mom. One of our last in person conversations, I had pitched this business idea to her and she loved the idea. I miss her so flippin' much.
Fast-forward to almost September, and August was such a success that I got to learn and enjoy what the feeling of burnout is, hahahahahaha. I've never been so happy, being so exhausted.
Finally, my heart gets all the extra warm and fuzzies with being able to give back part of my tour proceeds to a few programs that I hold dear to my heart. Tours have helped families get fresh organic produce from Puzzlegrass farms, have helped youth mental health services with Foundry Penticton and with the South Okanagan Women in Need Society.
My momma would be so darn proud.
If you're visiting this fall, make sure to follow Discover Naramata's newsletter. You might get a super-duper special discount code for tours this fall season. I'm keeping my booking platform open until mid-November, then it will be upon request until late spring 2023.
And as always...
Be Kind, Drink Wine.
xoxo Jess (Owner, Guide & Fun Person)
