Reflection of 2025... And How to be AVERAGE

Hey friends…. It’s me, you know… Jess from Farm to Glass Wine Tours.

I’ve been quite silent here on social media these days…. I’ve been burning the candle at both ends since the beginning of August.  For those that may or may not know, besides running my eco-wine tours, I am also a flight attendant with Air Canada and we have been going through an emotional rollercoaster over the past months.  Though we have made some great progress, I will unfortunately admit we are still lacking in a lot of gains and are just sitting in a stalemate until the new year when we finally get our arbitration dates.  It’s been amazing to be part of union history… and I do have to say it’s been eye opening to see the “politics” of union and labour and frankly…. It’s not my cup of tea and burns an inner rage I do not particularly enjoy.

But as a season of wine tours, it was slow to start… I blame the orange cheeto and the economy but let’s not dive deep into that.  But as the season progressed, I got busier and busier which was not expected but was amazing.  I honestly can’t give enough thanks to the amount of repeat guests I’ve had this year…. You are my peeps and I adore you dearly….. You know who you are.

Being a new business, it’s normal to grow year over year but that will always and eventually plateau, and this year was that year.  SoI can say that this year was an average year for Farm to Glass Wine Tours….

…. But here’s the thing.  Average is pretty damn great.  This is something that I’ve learned recently when I brought some guests for a wine tasting this fall.  Ironically, (or maybe not so ironic), I am currently half a bottle deep into their Viognier which honestly has inspired me to write this.

This winemaker talked about how all he wants is “average”..... Which at first reflection seems like that would be silly, right?

But average is great.  He mentioned that in a vintage, he never wants to use the word “too”.  He doesn’t want too hot, too cold, too wet, too much draught, too much, too little…. All I want is AVERAGE.

2025 is amazingly average.  I’m excited to see what average is going to look like in the 2025 vintage of the BC wine industry.

Also I can happily admit that I had my first very average year at Farm to Glass and I honestly couldn’t be happier.  Yay to average!

But to go a bit deeper, I’ve been practicing being a bit more average in my day to day life… and I highly suggest that you try being a bit more average as well… I think you’ll like it.

Because average is awesome.

And you’re awesome… and as I always say… awesome finds awesome.

Also, I’d just like to mention that the 2025 season has managed to donate $680 back into the local community, donated between Foundry Penticton & Kelowna and also SOWINS (South Okanagan Women in Need Society)..... So thank you!

Stay tuned to see what 2026 may bring… and DM me if you want to know what wine is giving me the average vibe…. Here’s a hint:  It’s from East Kelowna but sourced from Washington grapes.

And as always,

Be Kind, Drink Great BC Wine
